The police in Ogun State says they are battle-ready to confront unknown gunmen who are currently on rampage in Southern Nigeria.
There have been attacks on security formations and personnel in some Southern states of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Imo and Ondo recently.
Although the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) which launched its security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN) to combat violent herdsmen, has been blamed by police authorities as being behind the attacks, the secessionist group has rejected the accusations.
“We are battle-ready for anyone planning to attack any of the stations in the state,” Ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, boasted during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday. “Anyone embarking on such deadly attack should know that they are on a suicide mission.”
