President Muhammadu Buhari today replaced service chiefs in the country. His decision came years after critics, including the Nigerian Senate, asked him to change the security chiefs to tackle worsening insecurity.
Despite the lawmaking arm of government making the demand thrice, the president looked the other way although he had earlier in the year promised to rejig the security architecture.
The new appointees are: Major General Lucky E.O.Irabor, as Chief of Defense Staff (CDS); Major General Ibrahim Attahiru as Chief Of Army Staff (COAS); Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo as Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) while Air Vice Marshall Isiaka Oladayo Amao takes over as Chief Of Air Staff (CAS).
