Tinubu backs Sanwo-Olu on scrapping of pensions to Lagos ex-govs

Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, has thrown his weight behind moves to scrap pensions paid to ex-governors and their deputies.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had on Tuesday notified the state house of assembly of his intention to abolish the entitlements of his predecessors.

He said the move was aimed at saving cost of governance. Backing his decision is Mr Tinubu, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The former governor described the move as bold and courageous advising other state governors of his party to do same.

“In particular, I would also like to commend the Governor for the plan to commence the repeal of the Pension Law giving pension packages to former governors and their deputies,” Tinubu said in series of tweets Wednesday.

“This is a bold and courageous move by Mr. Governor and I wholeheartedly support him. I encourage all APC loyalists to do the same,” he added.
