Stop issuing statements when bandits kill Nigerians, Shehu Sani tells Buhari

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker has called for a halt in issuing statements each time bandits attack and kill Nigerians.

Activities of bandits in the country recently escalated majorly in the Northwest region, forcing citizens to flee from their respective homes.

A state governor who reached a ceasefire agreement with bandits in his state recently pulled out and has sought the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.

During his meeting with the governor on Thursday, the president, in a statement by his media aide, advised bandits to surrender their arms of face a disgraceful end.

Reacting, the former Kaduna Central lawmaker during the 8th Senate said the spike in attacks has outgrown issuing of statements.

“The frequency of Killings in the North West by bandits has reached such a tragic point that not all the attacks are deserving of official Government statement; And some statements can just be phocopied and used for the next attack,” Mr Sani said in a tweet Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the former lawmaker earlier in the day, urged security agencies to always show evidence that bandits are being dealt with.
