Mu’azu takes over from Yakubu as new INEC acting chairman


Ahmed Mu’azu, a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken over in acting capacity from Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure has expired.

Mr Yakubu handed over to Mu’azu today at the national headquarters of the commission in Abuja.

He was appointed into the position by eleven other national commissioners of the electoral body, Yakubu who has been renominated for a second term said at the event.

His reappointment for another term of five years is yet to be confirmed by the Nigerian Senate, hence his decision to step aside pending his confirmation.
