Four dead as gunmen bomb Ohakim’s convoy

Ikedi Ohakim, the former governor of Imo State, escaped death Monday night when his convoy was attacked.

A close source of Mr Ohakim, quoted by The Nation, disclosed that four police orderlies attached to the politician lost their lives in the attack.

Explosives were reportedly thrown at one of the vehicles in the convoy when the attackers failed to stop the automobile conveying the politician and some of his family members.

Police spokesman in the state, Michael Abattam, was not immediately reachable for comments on the incident that took place at Oriagu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
