The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says the Abuja headquarters of the agency was engulfed in flames early Sunday morning.
The border agency made this known in series of tweets on its official handle, @nigimmigration.
The inferno, put off by men of the federal fire service and the cause now being investigated, affected some offices in the building.
“A fire incident occurred in our Service Headquarters this Morning. It affected some of our Offices,” it said.
“2.The fire has been put out by our Federal Fire Station&support from other agencies around the Airport.
3.The cause of the fire is being investigated. We assure the public that the incident will not in any way affect the discharge of our services,” the agency added.
This is the first agency to be engulfed in flames this year. Last year several government parastatal buildings caught fire with its causes still unknown till date.
