Ekiti speaker, Afuye, dies at 66

Funminiyi Afuye, the speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, has reportedly passed on.

Mr Afuye died on Wednesday at the age of 66, after suffering from cardiac arrest for which he is being treated of at the state’s University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti, according to a statement by Yinka Oyebode, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

He was said to have attended the inauguration ceremony of Mr Oyebanji on Sunday.

He also reportedly attended plenary on Tuesday before joining his ancestors a day after.
