The protest by Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites, at the National Assembly, has again turned bloody.
The IMN members are demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-zakzaky, held hostage since 2017 when members of his movement clashed with personnel of the Nigerian Army.
The first protest by the demonstrators at the legislative arm of government led to the exchange of fire power with security operatives.
The second one at the lawmaking arm held today has again turned bloody with men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) allegedly opening fire on the protesters.
This has led the Shiites member to set fire on a land property belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Abuja.
More details later.
