Thugs pelt stones, other dangerous objects, at Atiku’s convoy in Borno

Political thugs on Wednesday pelted stones and other dangerous objects at the convoy of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The incident occurred in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno, an All Progressive Congress (APC) controlled state, where the former vice president had gone to campaign.

Video clips of the attack are trending on social media platforms while sounds of gunshots, apparently coming from security agencies attached to the attacked convoy, could be heard renting the air.

Some of the multimedia reports seen by TODAY POLITICS show windscreens and windows of vehicles in the convey damaged with people loitering around disorderly.

The APC has been blamed for the attack but the party is yet to comment on the allegation coming from Senator Dino Melaye, a spokesman of the former vice president.
