Social and economic activities were halted on Tuesday in Imo State while President Muhammadu Buhari visited the Igbo predominant domain to commission projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodinma.
Mr Buhari is in the state on the request of Mr Uzodinma to commission roads and the renovated State Assembly complex.
Prior to his visit, the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) declared a sit-at-home exercise in the South-East geo-political zone to embarrass the visiting Nigerian leader like it did same month last year, for the continued detaining of its leader Nnamdi Kanu, facing terrorism charges.
Multimedia reports from the region showed the directive of the secessionist group was largely been complied with as schools, shops, markets and banks remained shut despite heavy security presence.
