Rivers Crisis: Three more Pro-Wike commissioners resign from Fubara’s cabinet

Three more commissioners in Rivers State loyal to Nyesom Wike, federal capital territory minister, on Wednesday resigned from the cabinet of Governor Similanayi Fubara.

This brings the total number of the resignees in the last 24 hours to five.

Chinedu Mmom and Gift Worlu heading Education and Housing ministries had earlier in the day separately turned in their resignation letters dated Wednesday, May 15.

Hours later, Jacobson Nbina (Transport), Inime Aguma (Social Welfare and Rehabilitation) and Austin Ben-Chioma (Environment) all stepped aside in separate letters addressed to the governor through the Secretary of the State Government (SSG).

The all gave reasons connected to the political crisis in the state, involving Mr Wike and his estranged successor Governor Fubara.

Earlier, three commissioners, Zacchaeus Adangor, Emeka Woke and Alabo George-Kelly also resigned from the Ministries of Justice, Special Projects and Works respectively.

The resignees had earlier resigned their positions but were reabsorb into the cabinet after President Bola Tinubu intervened in the rift that appears to be escalating.
