Resign before Monday, Buhari orders Amaechi, Malami, Akpabio, other ministers with political ambitions

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that all members of the Federal Executive Council running for elective offices to submit their letters of resignation on or before Monday the 16th of May, 2022.

The president gave the order on Wednesday during the weekly federal executive council meeting which he presided on.

The directive affects Rotimi Amaechi, Transportation Minister, who is jostling to succeed Mr Buhari; Abubakar Malami who has declared interest in Kebbi guber race.

Also affected are Niger Delta Affairs minister, Godswill Akpabio and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipreye Sylva, both of whom have joined the crowded presidential race.

Mr Buhari also acknowledged the resignation of Minster of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, who is also seeking to succeed him in office.
