Hope Uzodinma, Imo State governor says his predecessor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, is planning to dump the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Mr Uzodinma who spoke yesterday through his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Modestus Nwamkpa, was responding to the accusation of the former governor wherein he accused his successor of choking the party to dead in the state.
Okorocha had cited the absence of party chieftains during the recently held zonal meeting of the APC in Owerri, the state capital, to buttress his claim.
But responding, the governor described him as an internally displaced politician who is sinking and unhappy over progress the party is making in the region under his leadership.
“Okorocha is a sinking man. He is an internally displaced politician,” the Imo helmsman said in a statement.
“He is angry that under Governor Hope Uzodinma, the APC is gaining ground in the South-East, including the defection of Governor Dave Umahi to the party.
“I am aware that Okorocha wants to leave the APC, and his plan is to destroy the party before he joins another party. But we will not let him have his way,” he added.
