Godwin Obaseki, the embattled governor of Edo State has officially decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Obaseki had days ago resigned his membership from the All Progressive Congress (APC). The party disqualified him from using its platform for his re-election bid.
The governor defected to the opposition PDP moments ago and is expected to secure the guber ticket of the party to stand in for the September 19 governorship election.
Announcing the defection of the governor, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP in a tweet said the governor has now fully joined the opposition party.

An aide to the governor, Jack Obinyan and the twitter handle of the PDP reiterated the claim, saying the state no longer belong to the APC.

Mr Obinyan later confirmed his principal arrived at the state headquarters of the opposition party.
