Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi West has finally surrendered himself to Nigeria Police.
Mr Melaye, wanted for homicide he allegedly committed in July, came out of his residence which has been under siege by police personnel since last week.
The lawmaker had last week raised alarm that his Abuja residence was under a police siege. The senator said he was not in the building during the operation, even though comments from his close associate and colleague, Ben Murray-Bruce, suggested otherwise.
The police had said they were not going to back down on the siege until the lawmaker present himself for arrest.
Today, few of his colleagues at the Senate including his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, paid him a visit at the said residence which has been under siege.
After the visit, Melaye willingly presented himself to the police for arrest.
The Kogi lawmaker while the siege lasted had said hiding does not mean he is afraid. Making a biblical reference he said the act was a show of wisdom.
