Clement Etim, a business man from Akwa Ibom State, has narrated how a senior police officer got him arrested and framed-up after he caught the culprit red-handedly making love to his legally married wife, Lawrentia Etim.
The business man who frequently travels to the neighbouring Cross River State for business transactions said he has been receiving rumours of his wife having an affair with a police officer but decided to see for himself before taking action.
He said after catching his adulterous wife and the officer warming his matrimonial bed, personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) got him arrested, tortured and framed up for unknown crimes while his wife fled with his two children.
Mr Etim narrated own side of the story in a suit he filed against the NPF, the state Commissioner of Police, the Officer-in-Charge of General Investigation at the State CID, SP Ekene Nwosu, and the culprit, Celestine Umeh, at a Federal High Court in Uyo, demanding N200million as damages for arresting, torturing, and framing him up.
“On several occasions when I embark on business trips to Calabar, I always receive credible reports of my wife, Mrs Lawrentia Asuquo Etim, having amorous affairs with the 4th respondent, CSP Celestine Umeh; including his regular visits to my matrimonial home and how he equally spent nights in my home with my wife during my absence,” the applicant represented by his legal counsel, Inibehe Effiong, wrote.
“On the 27th of April, 2020, my house help who lives in my matrimonial home, Christopher Bassey, a 15-year-old boy, called me over the phone in the evening and informed me. I verily believed him, that the 4th Respondent had come to my home again to spend the night in continuation of his amorous relationship with my wife.
“Following that credible information, I decided to return home unscheduled. On getting to my home at Flat 7, Aba Ukpo Estate in Uyo at about 7:00 p.m. on the 27th April 2020, I caught the 4th Respondent red-handed with my wife making love on my matrimonial bed, not minding the presence of my 15-year-old house boy, my 7-year-old son and my 3-year-old daughter in the apartment,” he added.
He said after he was arrested, the third respondent (Mr Nwosu) seized his mobile telephone with which he used in capturing the adulterous act and deleted the incriminating photos and videos he took as evidence.
His case has been assigned to Justice Charles Ikpe of the Akwa Ibom State High Court and hearing has been fixed for June 11, 2020.
