The date for governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States has been fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The two states did not participate in the recently concluded governorship elections across the country.
Festus Okoye, the chairman of the electoral body’s information and voters education committee, in a statement said the guber polls for the two states will hold on November 2.
Mr Okoye who stated this on Tuesday said parties interested in fielding candidates for the elections are expected to hold their primaries between August 2 and August 29.
He said campaigns are expected to begin from August 2 till October 31, while the deadline for submission of names of agents by parties is October 2.
“The stated timelines are in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended). All stakeholders are urged to take cognizance of and adhere strictly to them,” Okoye said.
“Details of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the election are on the Commission’s website,” he added. This has been reproduced below.
