The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed June 18th, 2022 as date for Ekiti state governorship election.
Chairman of the electoral body, Mahmood Yakubu, made this known in Abuja on Wednesday, reiterating that of Osun will hold July 16th, 2022.
“In keeping with our policy of announcing the dates of elections in advance to enable early and effective preparations by all concerned, the commission has approved that the Ekiti state governorship election will hold on Saturday, 18th June 2022 while the Osun state governorship election will hold one month later on Saturday, 16th July 2022,” Mr Yakubu announced.
He added that the commission has published the detailed timetable and schedule of activities for the two elections.
“We implore political parties and aspirants to ensure rancour-free primaries and thereafter conduct peaceful electioneering campaigns,” he said.
The INEC chairman also said the commission remains committed to conducting credible elections, with activities in full gear for the Anambra governorship scheduled for November 6, 2021.
