Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State, has recovered from Coronavirus disease.
Mr Ikpeazu, on discovery of contracting the pandemic disease last month, handed over the governance of the state to his deputy, Ude Chukwu, while embarking on self-isolation.
According to a Saturday statement by John Okiyi-Kalu, the state Commissioner for Information, the governor is fit to assume office after his tests samples returned Negative.
“To the glory of God, repeat COVID-19 test conducted by Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on samples submitted by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Thursday, 2nd July, 2020, returned negative result on Friday, 3rd July, 2020,” the commissioner said.
“Governor Ikpeazu is therefore deemed free of the virus according to the extant guidelines of NCDC and the World Health Organization (WHO)”, he added.
