Residents in Onitsha, Anambra State, were gripped with fear early Sunday morning after a truckload of live bullets fell off the road.
Cartoons of live bullets reportedly spilled into a nearby drainage after the Mercedes Benz 911 carrying the ammunition skidded off the road.
The vehicle was said to be on its way out of Onitsha to an unknown destination when it had the accident.
The scenario attracted heavy security operatives who have condoned the area with residents being alert.
The truck has been impounded, while the driver has been arrested, his conductor who is on the run is currently being trailed, according to a police officer who spoke anonymously.
Anambra Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ikenga Tochukwu, who confirmed there was a lone accident at the spot feigned ignorance of what the contents were.
