Ayodele Fayose, has again cautioned Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State who has now been reelected, against leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, reiterated this yesterday while congratulating the governor on his re-election.
Mr Obaseki had trounced his closest opponent and the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to secure his second term.
Congratulating him, Fayose, who asked him to see his victory as a challenge to do more for the people, in a statement, cautioned him against leaving the PDP for the APC which disqualified him from seeking re-election on its platform.
“I congratulate Gov Godwin Obaseki and urge him to see this victory as a challenge by the people of Edo State to do more for them. Most importantly, I wish to remind him that PDP came to his rescue in his hour of political need,” the statement partly read.
“Gov Obaseki should remain in the PDP, not minding the pressure that will be mounted on him,” the former governor added while expressing gratitude to stakeholders who made it possible for the victory which he said was “sweet.”
