A parallel primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state has produced Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu as winner of the exercise.
The exercise is different from another going on at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, venue of the main PDP primary election.
Trouble began after a group of protesters who claimed to be delegates were denied entry into the stadium.
The protesting delegates reportedly moved to the residence of Mr Shaibu to register their displeasure and thereafter convened at another location to elect the deputy governor as the candidate of the party in the September governorship election.
The exercise at Samuel Ogbemudia stadium was still ongoing as at publication time.
