The deputy speaker of Edo House of Assembly, Yekini Idiaye, has been impeached.
The ousting took place during Wednesday plenary at the state capital, Benin City, although it is still sketchy why he was removed from the position.
This is coming days after the embattled lawmaker alongside four of his colleagues pledged allegiance to Osagie Ize-Iyamu, gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the September 19 election.
Mr Ize-Iyamu is the opponent of Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor of the state seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
