Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi says his state will vote for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the general election next year.
Mr Umahi stated this on Monday in Abakiliki, the state capital, while swearing in commissioners and special assistants, who will takes over from their predecessors who stepped down while seeking various elective offices.
The governor said the people of the state will not vote for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
Mr Obi, a former governor of Anambra State is from the South-East geo-political zone which Ebonyi is part of, while Mr Tinubu hails from the South-West zone.
“We will not vote for Labour Party, we will only vote for APC,” the governor stated. “Our vote is for APC and not for Labour Party. Our agenda is the Ebonyi agenda.
“We will vote for our presidential candidate in the person of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“We must strive to liberate Ebonyi State and that is our agenda.”
The governor also frowned at the low rate of voter registration in the state and directed the stakeholders to brace up and ensure that people get registered before June 30.
“Unfortunately, the different local government areas in the state are yet to witness a high turnout of voters for registration apart from Afikpo South where 71,000 have so far been registered,” he said.
