President Muhammadu Buhari says his best service which he has given to the country is not good enough.
Mr Buhari stated this during a private dinner, organised by his family and allies to mark his 80th birthday, whose documentary was aired on Friday.
In the documentary tagged “celebrating a patriot, a leader, an elder statesman,” the Nigerian leader said his best which is not good enough was because of some elements that wanted to sideline due process.
“I believe I’m trying my best, but still my best is not good enough,” Buhari said. “Because there are people around that think that they can intimidate me to get what they want instead of going through certain systems to earn whatever they want to earn. And there are some people who want to be clever by half.
Mr Buhari said he was being harassed, reason he will not be missing the office when he completes his tenure next year. He had earlier looked forward to be lazying around like his age mates.
“I wonder if I am going to miss much. I think I’m being harassed,” he added.
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, at the event, described his principal as a forthright, good and kind man.
“Mr. President is a very humorous man and I think he would make a very good career in entertainment one way or the other when he retires,” Mr Osinbajo, who aspired to succeed the president but failed, said.
