Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has opined why Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), should not be respected as canvassed by the Nigerian Presidency.
The presidency had warned against criminalising the cattle-breeding group, saying they are also stakeholders in the country.
In a statement on Friday, Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman said the group ought to be respected.
This is after he had likened Miyetti Allah to other socio-cultural groups in the country.
Disagreeing with the position, Mr Fani-Kayode opined that the activities of the group ought to earn them hatred from Nigerians and not the respect as proposed by the presidential spokesman.
He said the group should be hated because its members have killed Nigerians much more than the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists.
“Miyetti Allah and their Janjaweed ISWA Fulani herdsmen have shed more innocent blood than any other terrorist org. in the last 4 years including Boko Haram,” the minister, a known critic of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, said in a tweet Saturday morning.
“They are worthy of our hatred, contempt and disdain and not our respect,” he added.
Members of the cattle-breeding group are often alleged to kill members of their host communities, should attempts be made at preventing their cows from eating up farm produce.
The government has vowed to continue negotiating with them in other to find lasting peace in the country.
