Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has made known his reason for halting attacks on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
During his days as Ekiti State governor, Mr Fayose, deployed all at his disposal attacking and criticising the Buhari administration. He hardly allow any policy initiated by the present government to run without criticising. At a point, he was the only opposition voice speaking across Nigeria.
In most of the cases, Mr Buhari and his administration, never cared to listen to his criticism. The president whose aides often claim he is unaware of events happening in the country, atimes showcases lukewarm attitude even in the affairs of his family.
Last week, one of the presidential aides, Femi Adesina, said his principal overlooked the attacks of the former governor because the former military dictator is now a reformed democrat.
Responding on Sunday, Fayose said he stopped criticising the president because the Nigerian leader does not have a listening ear. In series of tweets, where he described Buhari who has won elections twice, as an accidental president, the former governor advised Mr Adesina to stay on his lane and let the sleeping dog lie.
“On the comment by my brother and friend, @FemAdesina, on the President not “dealing with myself and Gov Wike,” President Buhari, in my opinion is an “Accidental President,” who is not only clueless but unconscious of happenings in his own Presidency,” Fayose who is currently being tried for corruption said.
“A man who can’t defend or protect his immediate family is not in anyway better than an effigy.
“If not, those around him won’t be talking about a President “punishing” serving governors or even ordinary Nigerians as if they are his servants.
“Femi Adesina, do you realize I have been quiet for a while, having concluded that Buhari’s Presidency is deaf and dumb? So don’t wake a sleeping lion so as not to be confronted with consequences you can’t contend with,” he added.
