President Muhammadu Buhari has said unlike his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, nobody would unseat him as a sitting president.
Mr Buhari stated this in a chat with a correspondent of an American based Cable News Network (CCN).
Mr Jonathan who sought a second term in office as a sitting president was defeated at the 2015 general election by Buhari who was in the then opposing camp of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The former president conceded defeat before the announcement of the results were concluded.
But for the incumbent he is not worried he could face such scenario.
“This is a vibrant democracy. You came in, unseating the incumbent. Are you worried the same could happen to you?” the president was asked.
“No. Nobody would unseat me,” Buhari told the correspondent of the CNN when the latter threw the question at him.
He was asked a similar question when he featured at a town hall meeting tagged “The Candidates.”
Instead of given a straight answer the president said he does not believe he would loose his re-election bid.
His major challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the town hall meeting said he will accept defeat as long as the election is adjudged to be free, fair and credible.
In the interview, the president also pledged to move the country forward if given another chance to pilot the affairs of the country.
“I am ready to take this country forward for the next four years,” he said.
