Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has been elected the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum.
His Yobe counterpart, Mai Buni, announced this when a team of governors to a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in Abuja on Wednesday.
Besides the duo, other state helmsmen present at the meeting includes Governors Mohammed Bago (Niger), Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Yahaya Bello (Kogi).
Senator Adamu Adamu; the national chairman, Senator Iyiola Omisore; the national secretary and other members of the NWC were present when the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) delegation visited.
“Standing before you to introduce to you our new chairman that we elected unanimously,” Mr Buni told the NWC.
Senator Adamu admonished Uzodinma to adhere to the manifestoes of the ruling party in carrying his colleagues along.
Responding, Governor Uzodinma pledged to work with the national and sub-national levels while at the helm of affairs.
“Under my watch, we will be very close to the party. The purpose of the forum is to add impetus to the activities of the party and governance,” the Imo governor said. “I can assure you that you have a team, that working together with the kind of men I have seen as Progressives Governors’ members, we have gotten all that it will take to ensure that the policies (are followed).
