President Bola Tinubu says the upward review of the national minimum wage and salaries are underway.
Mr Tinubu gave the assurance Monday evening during a nationwide broadcast to reel out what his administration is doing economically to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians.
“…We are also working in collaboration with the Labour unions to introduce a new national minimum wage for workers,” the president assured. “I want to tell our workers this: your salary review is coming.
“Once we agree on the new minimum wage and general upward review, we will make budget provision for it for immediate implementation.”
The president’s assurance comes as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is gearing up to embark on a nationwide downing of tools.
They had demanded the reversal of the recent petrol price hike “from ₦550 to ₦620 without due consultations.”
On its part, the Tinubu-led federal government is reminded the workforce body that an earlier court order barring them from going on strike is still subsisting.
