President Bola Tinubu on Monday sworn in two commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC).
Fasuwa Johnson (Ogun) and Tadese Raheem (Osun) took the oath of office at the Council Chamber of Aso Rock Villa, after their citations were read.
While Mr Raheem’s appointment was confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on February 13, that of Mr Johnson was ratified on March 6.
They are among the 20 commissioner-nominees of the NPC appointed in November 2023, of which 17 were sworn in on March 14. Nine among those who took the oath of office at the time were reappointed for a second term in office.
After the swearing in ceremony, a minute silent was observed in honour of two former cabinet members, Professors Fabian Osuji (82) and Ogbonnaya Onu (72) who died on February 28 and April 11 respectively.
Afterwards, President Tinubu’s cabinet members moved into a closed door session.
