The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Friday declared a nationwide downing of tools to protest against the removal of petrol subsidy.
President Bola Tinubu earlier in the week announced that his administration was doing away with the payment of subsidy.
The workforce is also protesting against the new increment of petrol price by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) while negotiation with stakeholders was still ongoing.
The industrial action, barring any last-minute change, is billed to commence next week Wednesday, the union announced after the meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja.
The NEC comprises all Presidents, General Secretaries, Treasurers of all NLC’s affiliate unions; State Chairpersons and Secretaries of the NLC State Councils, Chairperson of the NLC Youth Committee and members of the National Administrative Council (NAC).
