Former lawmaker representing Kogi Central at the Nigerian Senate, Dino Melaye, says he regrets supporting President Muhammadu Buhari to clinch the top office in 2015.
Mr Melaye stated this while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today Friday evening, saying the Buhari project is the greatest scam to emanate from Africa.
The former lawmaker was among those casting aspersions on former President Goodluck Jonathan, who sought re-election in 2015 but lost to Mr Buhari.
Melaye, an opposition politician, on his part lost his seat at the 9th Senate to Senator Smart Adeyemi through legal fireworks.
“To start with, I apologize to God Almighty who is the supreme controller of the universe and to Nigerians for supporting Buhari,” the dramatic politician said. “The Buhari agenda is the greatest scam that came out of Africa.
“The Buhari presidency in 2015 is the greatest scam that came out of Africa because the subject matter Buhari is the greatest scorn that came out of Africa.
“So I regret very seriously supporting… because we were scammed,” he added.
The lawmaker is not the first to regret supporting the president whose second term winds down in two years time. Others including a legal practitioner, Inibehe Effiong, have earlier expressed similar position.
Melaye also described the All Progressive Congress (APC) as a non-governmental organization for lacking substantive leadership at the national level.
