The State Security Service SSS) has denied arresting suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Mr Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu yesterday evening, claiming the ousted official of the apex bank is being probed.
Hours later, an online news portal published that Mr Emefiele has been arrested. Bayo Onanuga, an ally of the president ratified this when he shared the news on his social media account Friday night.
But in a terse statement posted on Twitter Saturday morning, the secret police self-styled Department of State Services (DSS), denied the suspended CBN chief was in its custody.
“Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS,” the service explained.
