A federal high court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to release the international passport of former Rivers Governor, Peter Odili, in its custody.
The NIS had seized the travelling document on the request of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The immigration agency said it refused to release the passport because the anti-graft agency told it the former governor was on its watchlist.
Delivering verdict on the fundamental suit filed by the former governor, Justice Inyang Ekwo described the seizure as unconstitutional.
The judge in her ruling Monday morning ordered the Comptroller-General of the NIS to return the passport to the owner.
