Police personnel took over the facility of the Ondo State House of Assembly on Friday which is the last sitting day of the outgoing parliament.
This is coming hours after a rumoured resignation letter of its speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, began circulating on social media.
Mr Oleyelogun who was not reachable for confirmation was said to have written to the house, informing them that he “ceases to function as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. This follows my decision to resign from the position with effect from today.”
Sources at the parliament claim the circulated letter is fake despite bearing the signature of the speaker which Today Politics could not authenticate as at press time.
One of the sources said the armed police personnel where drafted to the assembly complex located at Igbatoro road in Akure to prevent the speaker from gaining access into the facility.
