Ahmad Lawan, leader of the national assembly, says the arm of government under him will pass the 2021 budget presented to it by President Muhammadu Buhari, before the year ends.
Mr Buhari presented the N13tn budget for next year to the joint session of lawmakers at both chambers today.
The presentation took place at the floor of the House of Representatives. In compliance with COVID-19 protocols, the president was accompanied by the vice president, ministers and few aides unlike in the past where his entourage were numerous.
Speaking before the presentation, Lawan assured of the speedy passage of the appropriation bill.
“The National Assembly is ready to pass the 2021 budget before the end of the year, by the grace of God,” Lawan said in his opening remarks.
