Members of the organised labour have began nationwide protests against the increased electricity tariffs, calling on the federal government to reverse it.
The demonstrators have picketed the offices of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in the country.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other affiliate groups, said they do not understand the regulatory functions of NERC amid the epileptic power supply in the country.
Electricity tariff for customers under the Band A category was increased earlier last month — from N66 to N225 per kwh – which is over 200 per cent increase.
