Abdulaziz Gafasa has stepped down from his position as the speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly.
Mr Gafasa tendered his resignation letter to the clerk of the lawmaking arm this morning.
Kabiru Dashi, the majority leader of the assembly also resigned from his position.
The two lawmakers, according to Daily Nigerian, decided to honourably leave the saddle of leadership after being aware of moves to impeach them.
They are accused of serving the interest of the state governor, Umar Ganduje.
Lawmakers numbering over 30 are reported to have endorsed the move to oust them.
