Bola Tinubu, presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has vowed to get rid of bandits that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has been unable to.
Mr Tinubu gave the assurance on Saturday while addressing the ruling party’s youth at a rally held at the Mobalaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
He begged the young population to help him realise his life-long political ambition of becoming president so he could help them.
“I want to be President for you,” the septuagenarian said. “Drive me there. Commit yourself. A united Nigeria is our dream. A free Nigeria is our commitment.
“A violent-free Nigeria, a banditry-free Nigeria. A very successful Nigeria. We promise you, we will hand it over to you. You are our tomorrow,” the former Lagos governor added.
The outgoing administration, whose principal looks forward to lazying around like his age mates when its tenure expires next year, has been unable to tackle terrorists often addressed as bandits.
Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State says this was because the Buhari administration, which knows the hideout of the criminals and have refused to take the fight to their domain, sees them (bandits) as business men.
Several Northern governors who taught they could appease the criminals by granting them amnesty regretted their actions later as the move did not reduce or halt killings, kidnapping and other turpitudes activities in their domain.
Mr Buhari has continued to promise an improvement, but much has not been felt, in spite of equipping the military.”
