President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to probe the circumstances that led to the rescheduling of this year’s general election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had rescheduled the general election which ought to have started last Saturday.
The electoral body cited logistical challenges as reason for its decision.
Mr Buhari who seeks a second term in office on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) stated this at the party’s emergency caucus meeting in Abuja on Monday.
Expressing his disappointment despite making sure all available resources needed for the election were provided for the commission Buhari said a probe into the postponement will be launched after the election which is expected to commence on Saturday.
“Certainly the reason why that incompetence had to manifest itself has to be explained to the nation,” Buhari said.
“After the election we have to know exactly what happened and who is responsible otherwise our effort to make sure this system we voluntarily accept is not making progress.
“What is the use if we accept the incompetence? The constitution and the laws protected INEC but they must not take us for granted,” he added.
He also warned political thugs to shelve plans to abducting ballot boxes as they might lose their life in the process.
