Femi Gbajabiamila, former leader of the House of Representatives, has been elected speaker of the lower legislative chamber.
Mr Gbajabiamila was elected by his colleagues at the green chamber on Tuesday. He is the preferred candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the position.
The Lagos lawmaker defeated his opponent, Mohammed Bago, with over 200 votes in the house were 358 members voted.
Deputising him is, Ahmed Wase, who emerged unopposed during the exercise.
