Umo Eno, a former commissioner for lands and water resources in Akwa Ibom, has won the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Mr Eno was declared winner of the exercise that took place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the state capital, on Wednesday.
Philip Shuaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State and chairman of the guber primary announced Mr Eno, the preferred candidate of Governor Udom Emmanuel, as winner, after polling 993 votes during the exercise that had 1,018 delegates.
While 14 aspirants were cleared to participate in the process, two aspirants – Bassey Albert and Onofiok Luke – who are federal lawmakers, however, withdrew, citing existing court order and the controversial section 84(12) of the electoral act.
