Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, was on Tuesday questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over medical reports he used to secure court adjournments in his money laundering trial.
Mr Fani-Kayode was asked to appear at the Lagos anti-graft agency headquarters on Wednesday but honoured the invitation on Tuesday. This is after he opted to appear at the Abuja office of the EFCC but was refused.
He is alleged to have forged medical reports he used in securing court adjournments although his spokesperson denied the allegation and rather blamed an unnamed medical practitioner for the irregularities found therein.
In an update on his social media accounts, the All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain denied being arrested as reported in some quarters.
The politician who said he went to George Hotel for dinner thereafter, explained that he was granted bail after being quizzed by anti-graft operatives he said behaved professionally during the questioning expected to continue at a later date.
“Just arrived at the George Hotel for dinner. I was never arrested by the EFCC,” the former minister clarified. “I was invited & I flew down to Lagos to see them. I arrived in their office at 2.00pm & left at 8.30pm. I was granted bail on self recognition. They were very polite & professional. Thanks be to God.”
