The All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries in Edo state has been declared inconclusive.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party made the pronouncement after an emergency meeting Tuesday night following the crisis that rocked the selection process.
This was after the election committee, headed by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state, submitted its report of the weekend exercise.
Spokesman of the party, Felix Morka, who briefed newsmen said the exercise will now be completed on Thursday, February 22.
“At its emergency meeting held today, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, to consider the report on the Edo State Governorship Primary Election, the National Working Committee (NWC) deliberated on the report and resolved that the Edo State Governorship Primary Election has not been completed, and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, 2024, for the completion of the Primary Election Process, ” Mr Morka said.
The National Publicity Secretary declined further comments on the arrangements for the Thursday exercise.
The Uzodinma committee had announced Dennis Idahosa as winner but three other contestants in the 10-man race petitioned the party, alleging malfeasance.
