President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday stumbled and fell as he climbed into the back of a parade vehicle at Eagles Square on Wednesday.
Mr Tinubu fell face down during the commemoration of the June 12 Democracy Day, various social media clips showed.
It was unclear from the video of his fall whether he was caught in the web of of his flowing agbada, causing a misstep or that he was battling an unsteady gait due to possible ill health.
The guards around him were unable to prevent the Nigerian president from taking a tumble and hitting the floor of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the presidency, through the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun described the accident as a mild misstep.
“Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped,” Mr Olusegun explained on Twitter. “It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues”
