The presidency has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari will not update the nation today on the ongoing fight against Coronavirus disease in the country.
Mr Buhari was billed to address Nigerians today, according to Sani Aliyu, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), who relayed the information yesterday when he featured on Channels Television.
The president has addressed Nigerians thrice since the foreign deadly virus found its way into the country in February. Mr Buhari is usually briefed by the (PTF) before such broadcast is aired.
In his last broadcast, he ordered that the lockdown of some states be eased to cushion the economic effects of the pandemic with review scheduled for two weeks after which expired yesterday.
On Sunday afternoon, he met with the delegation of the PTF led by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation before Mr Aliyu announced in the evening that the decision of the Nigerian leader when he addresses the nation will guide their next line of action.
However, Femi Adesina, the president aide on Media and Publicity, has disclosed that his principal will not be addressing the nation because none was planned.
Mr Adesina said further directives on the way forward will be communicated to the public through the PTF.
“No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps,” Mr Adesina said Monday afternoon.
