A federal high court in Abuja has fixed May 29 for the trial of Bello Bodejo, detained leader of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore.
Mr Bodejo, arrested and arraigned in March, pleaded not guilty to the three count Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, filed by the Attorney-general of the federation.
He established an ethnic militia which the government said was aimed at promoting terrorism before he was arrested by operatives of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed the trial date after denying him bail while his lawyer, Ahmed Raji, said his client is ready for trial.
He said since the court has ordered expeditious hearing in the matter, there would be no need to appeal the ruling on his bail for now.
