Two defendants in the drug trafficking deal involving suspended police cop, Abba Kyari, has been convicted by a federal high court sitting in Abuja.
Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne were sentenced to two years in jail on Tuesday by Justice Emeka Nwite who delivered the verdict.
The judge who adjourned to 18, 19 and 20 of June for continuation of trial of other accomplices, said the three count charges which carries 2 years imprisonment each will run concurrently.
The duo had previously pleaded guilty to count 5, 6 and 7 out of the eight-count charges involving them, Mr Kyari and other accomplices who pleaded not guilty to count 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8.
They were accused of possessing illicit drugs during their arraignment in March by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
